Things you should know about High Heels

So many question has been asked: How do I wear high heels without pain.. I listed here, some the practices encourage when wearing high heels

1. Get the right size of the shoe.
The number one mistake ladies could make is probably not having the right shoe size for their foot. Your foot size changes over the years, even as much as one full size, especially after having kids. Have your feet sized once a year, and do it if you’ve never had it done. Measure your feet very well when you’re buying shoes, for width and for length as well. A lot of people think they’re a wide or vise versa and they’re not, so definitely do that before you shop.

2. Educate yourself on your own personal foot type.
Know your foot type. In my opinion, a podiatrist would be the best way to know your foot type and what’s going on. If you can’t run out to the podiatrist, there’s a couple of neat ways to see if you have a flat foot or a high-arch foot. Wet your foot and step onto a piece of construction paper. When you make an impression, it will show you how much your foot is flattening or how high of an arch you have. You can look at a person’s foot type and see why they are having pain.

3. The thicker the heel, the better.
Avoid thin heels, the stilettos. They cause your foot to wobble around. Sometimes, the dress is just going to call for a stiletto, as long as it’s something that’s occasional. If you’re wearing stilettos everyday, you might want to consider a chunkier heel style and change it up a bit.

4. Avoid thin soles, opting instead for a platform.
Thin soles will almost always give you pain on the bottom of your foot. You want a thicker sole or a little bit of a platform, which will offset some of the pressure when you’re walking. A rubbery kind of material will absorb that pressure.

5. Take breaks.
Kick your shoes off throughout the day and stretch your ankles and toes.

6. Stretch your feet after you take your shoes off.
The stretches that you’ll want to do are the stretches that will target the front of the foot and ankle, like pointing your toes down, and pulling your toes up with a strap to get the Achilles’ tendon and the calf muscles. And then side to side to get to the instep and the outside of the foot.

7. Try a shoe with more coverage up top.
The more coverage you have on the top of your foot, the better. Sometimes high-heeled boots are actually something you can wear all day and they don’t bother your feet as much. In the summer, you can try something with an ankle strap or a big wide strap across the top. If you’re prone to blisters and friction, you might want to try that style, something that covers more of the top of your foot.

8. Those over-the-counter shoe inserts really do help.
One thing to try are the over-the-counter products that market themselves for high heels. They are called metatarsal or ball of the foot pads. They are oval-shaped pads that go under the ball of the foot, usually made from a silicone gel. They combat soreness under the ball of the foot. Especially if it’s made of silicone, it will hold your foot more steady in the shoe so your feet aren’t sliding forward as much, which will protect your toes from friction and blisters.

Never Waste Money on Bridemaids

I am preparing for a post on wedding outfit when I came across this... Please read through and make your suggestion...

You are a bridesmaid or maybe even a maid of honour, what’s next?
The bride gets to choose what you wear on her special day. It is acceptable for bridesmaids to wear different dresses, but their gown preferably should be in one color palette and made of the same fabric.

The bride selects the colour scheme for the wedding and might want the colour of bridesmaids’ dresses to coordinate with bridal bouquet, the decorations or sometimes even with ties of male guests.

It is great when the bridesmaids are happy with the bride’s choice and can’t wait to wear the dresses she selected for them, but it often happens that some of the friends feel that colour or style of the dress doesn’t flatter her much. If this happens to you, think twice before commenting on the bride’s ideas. She has a lot on her mind these days, don’t multiply her list of things to worry about. We suggest voicing your concerns only in case when you feel it’s extremely critical for you not to wear the dress bride is asking you to put on.The bride on the other hand should try to be as considerate as possible.

In terms of style, probably the least problematic are the dresses with A-line skirts and empire waist. Those usually look good on different body shapes and sizes. Colour is also very important. When choosing, think about your bridesmaids complexion and hair color. Be kind and avoid something that you know your friend would never put on if it would be up to her. In general bright, dark coloured gowns (black, hunter green, navy) look good on most of women and can be used for other formal events later on.

If the bride wants her bridesmaids go with strapless dresses she has to check specifically whether every maid would be absolutely comfortable wearing it.

Most probably the bride will have a lot on her plate besides the outfit for her bridesmaids. She might want to ask her maid of honor to be in charge of organizing bridesmaids gown purchase.

Ankara Moves High in Outfit

I saw this post and felt to share it on my blog... Orginally from
http://ynaija.com/ankara-adds-flavour-to-any-outfit-any-day-anytime-see-how/

At one point in time, it was very fashionable to wear ‘ready-made clothes” and the traditional or ethnic printed fabric were only sewn into ‘iro and buba” which was regarded archaic.

However in Nigeria today, things have turned around one eighty degrees and now, wearing ethnic printed clothing is very in.

As time has passed on, the clothing fabric became finer, less heavy, non-itchy, available in varieties and most of all, tailors developed a better sense of style.

It’s so much easier to have clothing sewn from traditional fabric now, be it Ankara, Kente, lace, dry lace, Guinea, French lace, Adire, Aso-oke- just go to your tailor and describe what you want to him or her, and voila!

The great thing about various prints is that you can design every detail of how you want your outfit to look; the transformation is carried out by tailors.  They turn your plain materials to elegant pieces or in some cases, screwed up caricatures.

Ankara has now become a popular commodity; it’s even imbibed in fashion shows and seen on international celebrities. Nigerian designers such as Lanre Da-Silva Ajayi of LDA, Kiki Kamanu, Ituen Basi, JD7, and Lisa Folawiyo of Jewel by Lisa, Zizi Cardow, and Ade Bakare amongst others have taken the indigenous fabric and transformed them into eye candy and show cased them on an international level.

Clothing accessories are not left out; traditional fabric has been used on bracelets, shoes, clutch purses, brooches, ties and what not.

The ‘iro’ and ‘buba’ has been revamped now, there ‘oleku’ version has returned from the eighties to grace us with it chic elegance. The ‘oleku’ is basically the shorter version of the traditional Yoruba ‘iro’ and ‘buba’, this looks really great on ladies, age and size irrespective

I suggest we all get off our hides and begin to fill our closets with items of Ankara, for it adds flavour to any outfit any day, anytime.

Do you find it interesting??

Nigerian Aso Ebi Can't Be Overridden

Nigerian Style Short Gowns Are Perfect As Wedding Guest Outfits

Gown aso-ebis (wedding guest wears) are some of the finest, you’d agree. Or what about wearing an ankara or lace short gown to work on a Friday? I like that you can look both elegant and simple in a traditional style short gown. And for brides-to-be who are planning a honeymoon, be sure to include one or two into your honeymoon suitcase.

Nigerian traditional wears and dresses are really looking better and better every day, and competing well in the International Fashion scene. The finishings are becoming better and better – even with outfits made by local tailors.
